Introduction:

  • The students shall understand the influence of the individual on historical and cultural events.
  • The students shall know the locations and geographic features of these regions.
  • The students shall understand the effects of the levels of technology.
  • The students shall use primary and secondary sources including artwork.
History:
  • 6.2 Student understands the contributions of individuals and groups from various cultures to selected historical and contemporary societies.
Geography:
  • 6.4 Student understands the characteristics and relative locations of major historical and contemporary societies.
  • 6.5 Student understands how geographic factors influence the economic development, political relationships, and policies of societies.
  • 6.7 Student understands the impact of interactions between people and the physical environment on the development of places and regions.
Culture:
  • 6.15 Student understands the similarities and the differences within and among cultures in different societies.
  • 6.16 Student understands that certain institutions are basic to all societies, but characteristics of these institutions may vary from one society to another.
  • 6.17 Student understands relationships that exist among world cultures.
  • 6.18 Student understands the relationship that exists between artistic, creative and literary expression and the societies that produce them.
  • 6.19 Student understands the relationship among religion, philosophy and culture.
Science, Technology and Society:
  • 6.20 Student understands the relationships among science and technology and political, economic and social issues and events.
Skills:
  • 6.21 Student applies critical thinking skills to organize and use information from a variety of sources including electronic technology.
  • 6.22 Student communicates in written, oral and visual form.
  • 6.23 Student uses problem-solving and decision-making skills, working independently and with others, in a variety of settings.


High School: World History


History:

  • #6 Student understands the major developments of civilizations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Meso-America and Andean America, and Asia.
Geography:
  • #12 Student understands the impact of geographic factors on major historical events.
Government:
  • #16 Student understands the process by which democratic-republican government evolved.
Culture:
  • #19 Student understands the history and relevance of major religions and philosophical traditions.
  • #20 Student understands the relationship between the art and the times during which they were created.
  • #21 Student understands the roles of women , children and families in different historical cultures.
  • #22 Student sees how the development of ideas has influenced institutions and societies.
Science, Technology and Society
  • #23 Student understands how major scientific and mathematical discoveries and technological inventions have affected society throughout history.
Social Studies Skills
  • #25 Student applies critical-thinking skills to organize and use information acquired from a variety of sources including electronic technology.
  • #26 Student communicates in written, oral and visual form.
  • #27 Student uses problem-solving and decision-making skills, working independently and with others, in a variety of settings.
